betPawa supports flood victims with water tanks and food
betPawa has donated water tanks to be distributed across the country and food to flood victims in Mavoko, Machakos County.
Members of our team were backed by Betting Control and Licensing Board officials as they flagged off the 60, 5,000-litre water tanks from the Jumbo Limited factory on Mombasa Road.
The tanks are intended to help various communities affected by the flooding experienced in the country between March and May in their water storage efforts.
Later, the team distributed foodstuff to 500 families in Mavoko Location, with the help of the area chief Cosmas Nzanga.
“Everyone at betPawa’s hearts go out to all those affected by the heavy flooding that wreaked havoc across different parts of the country,” said betPawa’s Country Marketing Manager Simon Mwangi.
“Today, playing our role as responsible corporate citizens, we are here to further support the efforts made earlier by the government’s multi-agency team, which ensured that Mavoko residents were assisted in beginning to rebuild their lives.”
BCLB chairlady Dr. Jane Makau said the support is in line with the government's call to action for the private sector to support flood victims across the country.
She added: “As a board, we have been encouraging betting firms to undertake corporate social responsibility. So today 500 families will be getting food.”
This donation comes two weeks after betPawa completed a borehole project in Kitui County inspired by a local resident of Kanduti.
Previously, the residents faced severe water scarcity due to reliance on a seasonal river that forced them to walk at least 10 kilometres in search of water at the next available stream.
