betPawa to raise funds for breast reconstruction of cancer survivors
betPawa Uganda is set to help fundraise for reconstruction surgery of breast cancer survivors in Uganda as it marks the Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The betting brand, which undertakes several community development initiatives, said it will focus on raising money for artificial breasts (prosthesis) for cancer survivors.
“betPawa will participate in the Pink Friday and Movies4Cancer events spearheaded by the Cancer Communique, that will raise funds for the purchase of artificial breasts by buying movie tickets for betPawa staff and stakeholders,” said the brand’s Country Marketing Manager, Ivy Igunduura.
A betPawa team which includes staff will participate in a one day event on Friday 27th October at the Century Cinemax Cinema located at Metroplex Naalya Mall in Kampala to raise funds for this cause.
The World Health Organisation dedicated October as a month to educate on efforts regarding breast cancer awareness, identification, and management. Countries have since adopted October as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Igunduura said that the breast cancer project by betPawa aims to lessen the burden on families going through it, as such challenges are very costly to treat, and will also redeem the confidence and esteem of breast cancer patients.
“Breast reconstruction surgeries are necessary but not affordable to all. We want to make sure we make the vulnerable women feel confident with this support,” she noted.
